Vibrams for parkour

hye guys, its my first post here, so here goes

which vibram five finger is better for parkour? kso, bikila, or speed?

i'm currently leaning to speed, and plz list the pros and cons

  • i would go with the KSO, its pretty much all round awesome-sauce. you will get better ground feel, and more toe flexibility, than the bikila/speed, smooth sole will be better for gripping flat surfaces and climbing. i think the toe bumpers cover a bit more too? and they come in better colours and are awesome. 
  • I don't do parkour but have watched a lot and I can imagine that that echo zero nailed it. I think the KSO would be your best bet. I personally think the bikila and speed are great for running. But if you really want to feel the ground and what your on I would go for the KSO.

  • I agree its gotta be the kso.  Maybe even the flows because they are a little tighter than the kso's, and the sole is just a bit thicker too to help prevent stone bruising. Maybe ::) 
  • flows might offer slightly more scuff protection, for the upper foot too, due to the neoprene being thicker than the kso material (anyone know what this stuff is?), not sure if that would be necessary though.
    although, i find the toes on flows are more bulky, and don't wrap around the toes as well as ksos

    Hey mate, pretty new here myself, but thought I'd reply with my experience.

    I've been training in the discipline of parkour for about a year, and the last 10 months of that I've been wearing a pair of sprints exclusively.  I was advised to go with sprints as opposed to the KSO by the owner of the sole (pardon the pun) Australian Distributor of VFF's because in his experience the strap design of the sprints guaranteed a more snug tight fitment than the KSO, and prevented the foot from sliding back in the shoe - meaning your toes are always firmly in the toe pods which is what you want for precision landings / climb ups / taks etc.

    Not having trained in KSO's I can't vouch for the accuracy of this claim - but what I can say is that I have absolutely no regrets getting the sprints, and I can definitly confirm that the rear heal strap design allows you to ensure your toes / forefoot always remain in the front of the shoe.

    Having said all that - I've just ordered a pair of Bikilas as my second pair of training shoes.  I'm hoping that I don't have issues with my foot sliding towards the heal in them - because they don't have the heal strap design, but I like the fact that they are supposedly designed for urban running, with a little bit more cushoining in the toes etc, and I feel that the agressive tread design will provide better traction than the traditional sole design.  I'll know for sure within a week or so.
