Best Price on Speeds?

I have done the math from Pure Kit and it comes out to about $176.  Is this the best price I am going to find?  I don't want to wait until June.

  • i got mine from pure kit for 125.00 USD shipped to Alaska and we have some of the highest shipping out there.  I'd look at what conversion rate your going off of
  • Every conversion I have is now putting them at $183.69.  Is this due to the conversion rate being different or am I screwing something up.  I have asked for a price quote from them in US Dollars and will only send me quotes in GB Sterling.  I know this is fairly simple but I have read several people on here just like you that got them for way cheaper.  I understand conversion rates change but have they changed that much?  Here is the last email.  Thanks

    Dear Aaron ,

We are currently selling our Vibrams speeds at £89. 09 GB sterling and our delivery charges for international are £24.99

And they are sent via standard airmail ,

    Kind regards

Your right on the quote they gave you! if you go to xe.com you can do the exchange there with live rates. however the reason its soo expensive is that the US dollar isn't so strong anymore.
  • I have looked at past conversion rates and haven't found anything near good enough for the price that some people are saying.  Toris, when did you purchase you speeds?  How did you purchase them and who did the conversion rate?
  • I understand the frustration. Even with a discount, I still ended up paying about 155(USD) on my speeds from purekit about five months ago, all while hearing that others have gotten them cheaper. At least I feel that it was money well spent, as they are my current favorite VFF's.
  • I got them in December of 2010.  i looked at my receipt for the shoes and it was exactly the same as you are saying they quoted you.  I can't imagine the dollar changed that much in the last 2 months.  Hope it works out for you.  I am moving from AK to HI today and i am looking forward to getting to wear the Speeds more.  Kinda hard to wear them when it is -40F outside.
  • I actually went through the checkout process just to see what they would charge me and the total ended up being 95.07 GB Sterling instead of the 114.08 from the email.  The website was only going to charge me like 20 for the shipping and gave me a discount of 14 for VAT.  This comes out to about $150.  I can live with that so as soon as they have my size I will order them.  Thanks for your quick responses.
  • weird... can't comment on the legitimacy of this site. Looked all over to see where the company is located and can't find it. Offering men's speeds for cheap, but I have no idea about them. Maybe someone else can figure something else out?

Thoes are either fake, or somehow the vendor got is hands on the prototype version of the speeds. The white material below the tongue is made of a different material on the final relese of the speeds.

Those look exactly like the ones in the following video inwhich the buyer admits to them being fake:

  • I would be very surprised if that site were legit. Don't order from them is my advice.

I don't believe he's already run a lot outside, in gyms, and walk around in that pair of shoes for 3 or 4 months, the sole tread is immaculate and there's no trace of dirt either. This guy must be a fibber.
BTW, the color scheme printed on the soles is a poor imitation of the real soles, which aren't printed. The different dyes have been incorporated in the same rubber material and won't fade away.
  • Yeah, I didn't think they could be legit for that price. And some of the men's sprint colors on there seemed fake. Always good to make people aware of the fakes out there though.
  • If you are interested in a pair of Speeds in the size W41 (between M39 and M40) in black and white, an official retailer in Spain still has some pair in stock. They're not cheap, though: 120 euros (approx. $162). I've heard from other people living in North America successfully ordering a pair of Speeds to this retailer (2010 prize was 10 euros less expensive). According to the information provided in their website, the shipping fee outside the Iberian peninsula is 25 euros (approx. $34), so the total amount would be 145 euros (approx. $196), 2 buck cheaper than Purekit's original price, $14 more expensive than their clearance prize in men's sizes ($198 - $182), women's clearance prices were still lower ($167). At present Purekit only has W38 and M46 in stock and 5dedos.es (OSSO.es) W41 and M45.

These are the Spanish retailer details of their main selling point (street store in Zaragoza's downtown/city center, I personally visited that store in July 2009):
